RON BROWN
A practicing architect since 1976, I hold an architectural degree from the Boston Architecture College. Prior to that, I earned a BA with concentrations in literature, advertising and creative writing from University of Michigan and studied filmmaking at NYU.
While in Boston, I worked on residential and institutional projects in variety of architectural styles. I was involved with award-winning historical preservation projects including the Massachusetts State House, Boston Public Library, Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University, and Harvard Law Library.
For nine years, I was also the resident caretaker for the renown modernist home of Bauhaus architect Walter Gropius.
Since moving to Carmel in 2002, I've received unsolicited awards from the Heritage Society of Pacific Grove and the Carmel Woods Residence Association. Enjoying working in a broad variety of architectural styles, I see each as having a rich and varied vocabulary in which to work creatively. Working with clients is equally rewarding and many have become life-long friends.
HEIDI ANDERSON-SPICER
I come from a long line of “makers”; people who loved to work with their hands creating beautiful, elegant, functional objects. Having established my architecture practice in Santa Cruz in 1994, my experience on projects from Oakland to Carmel has inspired a deep appreciation for the diversity and richness of California architectural styles.
After earning a BFA and BA in Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, I worked in a variety of firms - from Cambridge to New Haven to New York City. My experience includes historic preservation, mixed use commercial, new homes, residential additions and remodels, multi-family developments, restaurant and commercial projects.
Creating beautiful, elegant, well-built architecture that creates value for the client and the community is fundamental to my approach to design. I’m inspired by indigenous architecture and the work of regionalist architects such as Morgan, Maybeck, MacIntosh and Richardson, to name a few. I delight in developing solutions that are responsive to the complexity and richness of my client’s needs and aspirations.
Ron and I look forward to working with you on your next creative adventure!
